TexAnevolution

It's a cool Texas winter morning...
The local mall has been opened for about two hours. Inside the usuals have began making their way to their favorite shops to find that perfect something for themselves or others. This particular mall is like any other mall in America, sure it's gotten bigger, but the people who shopped here twenty years ago are still shopping here. But something is a bit different than before, twenty, even ten years ago this mall would not have seemed so cultured. The sight of anyone with dark skin, that didn't have a fake tan, would have been looked at as odd or even assumed to be the cleaning staff. (Generalizing) Most of the attendees to this mall ten years ago were white and "uppity" at that. They were the standard Texans that acted like our former president; They shot from the hip and were very conservative. They were unforgiving with their dislike of those who were a little different. Today amongst the sea of people: the soccer moms, the tweens, the abercromby jocks, and the oversized families, two African American men walked hand in hand as a couple. No one looked, no one stared. Nothing happened.

Something has changed. We have evolved. We are better.
