What?, "Obama gets a Nobel Peace Prize"

Obama wins the Nobel Peace Prize, really? This has to be the craziest prank I have ever heard...oh wait it's true. Um...um...what?
It took me a good twelve hours to stop scratching my head. I just can't see exactly what Obama did to get what I consider to be the highest award ever. So I began reading about the prize and then the man behind the prize, which I sure everyone is doing at nobelprize.org. Even after clicking through the knowledge that was Nobel and the recent awardees, the prize to Obama remained a mystery. Obama who has broken a huge color barrier, inspired the rich and the pour, used the people to say "we all didn't approve of the last 8 years", taken on the evils of: healthcare, the corrupt economist, dirty politics, and energy waste; all by asking us for "change", still didn't seem worthy of the 'Peace Prize'.
An award like the Nobel Peace Prize is for people like Mahatma Gandhi (who actually never won the award) a man who took on an empire not by raising a fist, but by reflecting the calmness within. Gandhi was peace personified. Upon reflecting on the life of Gandhi, I realized why Obama received the award. Obama has to deal with the bat crazies: racist, terrorist, birthers, and the insanely ignorant. His day consist of constant fighting: facing internal wars on politics, a mess from past presidents, wars he didn't start in Iraq and Afghanistan, a supposed immanent threat on US soil, and other battles that seem impossible to win. Even as the pressure builds, before the end of his first year, nothing has been known to phase him. Even things like being called a "liar" in front of his constituents, had little effect on his cool demeanor. This award could cause a new perspective for even the most stoic of men. This prize should make Obama take a breath and think that there is something bigger than just 'being president', there is a higher calling; not a religious one, but a planetary one. As Obama decides what to do with so many battles he first must reflect on the titles the world has bestowed: 'President of the United States', one of, if not the most influential position in the world, and a recipient of the "Nobel Peace Prize". It may not keep bombs from bursting or make frustrations subside, but it could make one reach for the calmness within. The same goes for the enemies against Obama and against our way of life. "If a man is awarded a 'peace prize' could he not have some sense of peace? Could he be willing to negotiate so that peace can not be a dream, but a way of life?"
